“The First Family of Bollywood” is commonly called the Kapoor Family. At least four generations of the Kapoor family are part of the film industry, showcasing their talent and engaging the audience with their presence on screen. The family has been part of the Hindi film industry for over 93 years. From being great actors to film directors and producers, the entire family has earned a name and fame in the industry.

Prithviraj Kapoor was the first member of the family to step into the industry whose acting career started with his debut in Do Dhari Talwar in 1928. He was the founding member of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA). Prithviraj was born in Samundari, Lyallpur district, Punjab Province of British India. His sons, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor, became famous actors in Hindi cinema. “The greatest showman of Indian cinema” is what Raj Kapoor was known as in the industry. He became a well-known Film actor, director, and producer.

Generations of the Kapoor family in the film industry

The Kapoor family has created their landmark in the Indian film industry. Generation after generation, the family has done notable performance.

The first generation

This generation was led by Prithviraj Kapoor, the first person to step into the film industry. After him, his brother Trilok Kapoor came forward and became a trendy actor.

The second generation

This generation was led by the three Kapoor brothers, sons of Prithviraj Kapoor- Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor. Raj Kapoor was the most significant contributor to the film industry, and they enhanced Bollywood by being a well-performed actor, director, and producer. He greatly impacted the industry and brought it to an international level.

The third generation

This generation was led by the sons of Raj Kapoor- Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Rajeev Kapoor. But Rishi Kapoor was the most prominent of all. He was known as the romantic hero of his time. His charm and charisma made him the popular leading actor in Bollywood in the 1970s and 80s.

The fourth generation

Karishma Kapoor, Karina Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor brought the legacy of Kapoor forward with their fabulous performance and are even now renowned in the film industry. Where Ranbir is considered one of the most handsome actors, the two sisters- Karishma and Karina, have breathtaking beauty.

Kapoor family is united and celebrates festivals and rituals together. This Christmas, they enjoyed brunch together at Shashi Kapoor’s son Kunal Kapoor’s house. Their annual tradition is where the whole family unites for the Christmas brunch.
