A game of power and money set in the much adored royal families of India and the unignorable charm of Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor are ingredients of this Bollywood hit. The romantic tone of the movie is set straight by the impressive music score and again Salman Khan. This Rajshri productions drama was also distributed by the Fox Star Studios. The film lucked into huge profit at both Indian and international box office, collecting ₹40.35 crore on its very first day!
Apart from these movies, 2018 and 2019 have also been remarkable years for Bollywood so far. Overall, several films emerged super hit at the India box office. All these films are doing stupendous business, and have crossed the benchmark of over Rs 100 crore. Following are the names:
Sanju: It is considered the biggest hit of 2018, based on the controversial lifestyle of actor Sanjay Dutt, directed by Rajkumar Hirani. Ranbir Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Manisha Koirala played the key role in this movie. The box office collection crossed Rs 336 crores.
Padmaavat: Another blockbuster movie of 2018, based on the culture of medieval Rajasthan, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The notable performances of Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor were hit at the box office. Padmaavat’s collection has gone over Rs 284 crores.
Kabir Singh: Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani were in the lead role in this 2019 film, directed by Sandeep Vanga. The film turned out to become very successful at the box office, and earned more than Rs 263 crores in the initial 27 days.
Uri: The Surgical Strike: Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, and others played a significant role in the success of this movie, directed by Aditya Dhar. This blockbuster movie turned out to be bumper hit at the box office. Its collection has already crossed Rs 245 crores.
Bharat: Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ was released on the occasion of Eid in June 2019. Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Tabu and others essayed the major roles in this film, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. This film was again a hit and earned Rs 211 crores in the first 30 days.
Kesari: The movie is based on the true story of the 1897 battle of Saragarhi. Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra entertained the audience with their acting in this movie. This film turned super hit at the box office and earned 140 plus crore in the initial 18 days. Film pundits believe that it would do business of Rs 150 crores in its lifetime.
Total Dhamaal: This film is replete with big names like Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and others, directed by Indra Kumar. This film crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the box office.
Gully Boy: Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s incredible performance not only won the hearts of the audience, but rather the box office too. This film has collected over Rs 135 crore.
De De Pyaar De: Starring Ajay Devgan, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh. This film was a big hit at the box office and collected Rs 102 crore.
By far Baahubali 2 is reigning the list, with Dangal hovering at a distant second. Let’s see if we could hear some new records breaking in 2019. Here’s hoping!
