Bollywood Movie - Jawaani Jaaneman

Bollywood Movie Jawaani Jaaneman starring Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Alaia Furniturewalla

The trailer of Jawaani Jaaneman starring Tabu and Saif Ali Khan is out.

The trailer also features Alaia Furniturewalla as Tabu and Saif’s teenage daughter; Kubbra Sait, Kumud Mishra, Farida Jalal are other actors seen in the film.

The trailer starts with Farida Jalal saying “… Pammi ka beta gay hain ..” to which Khan says, “I’m not gay. Agar hota bhi toh kya problem hain?”

It’s a little painstaking as an audience to see a film in 2020 using gay people as a crucial element in their dialogue to invoke humour and not necessarily as an attempt to normalise it. In both cases, nevertheless, it is tedious and witless.

Next, we see Khan, grooving in his retro tune, “Jab bhi koi ladki dekhe mera dil deewana bole”. Partying, drinking beer, womanising. He also says that “… family aadmi ko chomu bana deti hain … Sher hu main sher, aur sher tab tak raja hota hain jab tak akela hota hain.”

In the trailer, Khan’s character has a resemblance with Gautam, a character from Imtiaz Ali’s Cocktail which was played by Saif Ali Khan himself. But the difference in this film is, the two women are not his girlfriends but one to be perhaps an ex and the other is for sure his daughter, which is proven on a DNA test. When he decides to come to terms with his reality, they are ready to find the mother.

The mother happens to be Tabu who for the first time, appears in a hippie avatar. Though we don’t see much of her in the trailer except saying “… are you sure ye negative insaan tumhara baap hain?” but it would be interesting to see her after Andhadhun.

In the error of comedy genre, Jaawani Jaaneman is set for release on January 31.
