Mahindra Reva E2O, pronounced “ee-too-oh”, the much awaited electric car was finally launched yesterday in India. It is the first electric four seater passenger car. The Mahindra Reva E2O offers a lot of features but the price of the car seems to be a bit expensive at 5.96 lakh, which when compared does not stand by the features offered. The car has a new information guidance display and the exteriors and interiors are of a modern design.
The car has a compact design and will prove good for city dwellers who are fed up of the daily traffic problems and also for those who are tired of rising petrol and diesel fuel prices. The Reva E2O comes with an excellent mileage and is equipped with 48-volt Lithium Ion batteries which on a full charge will cover 100 km. The battery charging time is also less and the maintenance cost of the car is amongst the lowest in the entire industry.
But, when it comes to buying an electric car many questions pop up in our head like, if we are stuck in traffic for a long time will the battery discharge? Or how will the rear passengers enter when the car has only two doors? Or what will happen if the battery drains in the middle of the road or in traffic? Does it have any backup system? These things matter a lot before considering buying an electric car. So let us just wait and watch how this car stands up in the automobile industry in the coming days.
