IPL 2022: Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Strengths and Weaknesses

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is stepping into the new season with a change in guard. Former Indian team captain stepped down from his role as captain in another IPL franchise. Last year, during the 14th edition of the IPL, Virat Kohli surprised his teammates and RCB fans with a video announcement shared on the official Twitter account of RCB in which he said, “This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB. I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me.”

Big Shoes to fill for the new captain?

Moving on from the Kohli saga, the team is now looking forward to playing under the guidance of the new captain Faf du Plessis. The South African batsman is not unique to captaincy and was the former captain of the South African Cricket team for all formats.

Team RCB has never had a dull moment, as the team is full of heavy T20 hitters. The team is looking even better this season, as the management has worked hard on its bench strength. Runs have never been a problem for the team, as RCB boasts the team’s tag with most 200+ IPL Scores.

It has experienced players like Virat Kohli, who has the most runs (6336* ever in the tournament, and Faf Du Plessis, an aggressive batsman. Adding to all this is one of the best finishers named Dinesh Karthik. Also, young talents like Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj are eager to prove their mantle in this format.

The team has undoubtedly struggled to make an impact in the tournament. Despite having solid bench strength and strong leadership, the team has not stepped up. Also, Yuzvendra Chahal and AB de Villiers are not in the squad anymore. The team will struggle to find players that can replace the two.
