This was expected. Just about months after the undisputed leader of smartphones, Apple Inc. released their iPhone 6 series, Samsung launched its latest Galaxy S6 series at the Annual Mobile World Congress Trade Show in Barcelona.
The Korean tech conglomerate is hopeful that these smartphones will be available across 22 wireless operators throughout the world by June, 2015.
- Variants: The highly revamped Gen-next mobile has two variants – Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, with the latter having slightly curved screen. Both the phones vaunt almost same features with minuscule difference in battery life and dimensions.
- Features: The Gorilla Glass-coated front and rear panels and new metallic frame lend it a top-class design and chic look. This puts it in the same platform with Apple’s iPhones having all-metal body and sleek designs.
The new features include:

- Brand new ‘Quick Launch’ of the camera in 0.7 seconds (just double click the Home button!)
- Smarter fingerprint scanning
- Built-in Wireless charging using WPC and PMA standards
- No waterproofing

- Amazing Display: Taking its new range of smartphone to a new level, Samsung has introduced Quad HD display. You would be blown away by the clarity, brightness and the colours of the 5.1-inch screen.
- Fast Charging: With 14nm Exynos octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of latest DDR4 RAM, it is a faster, more efficient and smooth running handset. Samsung assures a battery life of 12 hours of Wi-Fi, 11 hours of browsing, 13 hours of media playback and 49 hours of music. It is also accompanied by Quick Charge technology, which will give you four hours of usage after charging for just 10 minutes. Apple’s iPhone has definitely taken a back seat in this regard. They neither have a wired charging facility nor quick charging solution.

Additionally, the Galaxy S6 also includes the heart rate monitor, which measures the ambient lighting and adjusts the camera. The camera is equipped with the Smart Optical Image Stabilization system, which greatly reduces the chance of blurred images.
- Unique Colours: The phone comes with a variety of colours including gold, platinum, emerald green, blue topaz, and classy black.
- Additional Features: Introduction of Smart Manager (cleaning up the phone’s memory in seconds for effective functioning); ability to arrange the settings menu for quick access to icons at the top for an enhanced user experience and increased internal storage up to 128GB.
