As you wander into the bountiful wildness of nature through the areas of Loharjung, Didina, Bugyal, and Bhagwabasa, among others, you will see opaque forest stretches with furious streams over the grasslands. Arriving at the ‘Mystery Lake,’ which holds the bones of tragic pilgrims, would make you tremble, especially with the breathtaking backgrounds of Roopkund Glacier, Choukhamba, and Nandaghungti mountains.

This journey begins at Kathgodam, a tiny town in the Uttarakhand region of Nainital. It is only accessible by trains and highways, the only two means to reach this lovely hidden community. The nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport, which is 71 kilometres distant; you would need to rely on road transportation or railroads to get to Kathgodam. The Kathgodam Railway Station is accessible to all major cities by regular trains thanks to well-connected rail networks. You may also take a private or government bus from Nainital, Rudrapur, Moradabad, Chandausi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, or Delhi.

Kathgodam, located in the Himalayan Kumaon Ranges, is a lovely place to enjoy the environment and national traditions. An adventure from here will take you over picturesque small roads to Loharjung, your base camp for this hiking excursion. This tiny settlement is on the crest of a hill and gives a beautiful view of the Nilganga valley. It has a height of 2300 meters and will wow you with its vibrant scene. It offers a few hotel options and eateries, as well as a few tiny stores where you may buy necessities.

Your journey begins here and will captivate you beyond your wildest dreams. The Roopkund Trek leads you from the charming Kathgodam Town to Roopkund through Loharjung, Didina, Bugyal, Lotani, and Bhagwabasa. Summers last from April to June, with temperatures falling below 30°C thanks to a mild climate that lasts for most of the year.

Winter lasts from December through February and may be brutal, with temperatures dropping below zero. However, the months of July to November are particularly suited for visiting, with calm, pleasant winds that allow you to explore nature’s best-kept surprise of the Himalayas.

This trip is ideal for experiencing the adrenaline of the Himalayas, although it contains harsh circumstances and is typically regarded as having a moderate to a high degree of difficulty.
