Kempegowda International Airport is operated by a public–private consortium – Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL). This airport is a fully solar powered one and is named after the founder of Bengaluru – feudal ruler Kempe Gowda I.

– During April 2018 – March 2019, the total number of passengers handled by this airport was 33 million.

– The total number of aircraft movements was 239,395.

– The total cargo tonnage handled by the Kempegowda International Airport was 3.86 lakh tonnes.

This airport’s second phase of expansion is currently underway. After completion, the airport will be able to handle 55 million passengers every year.
