Kovalam Museums


Kovalam Museums are known to possess some of the oldest specimen of historically enriched articles related to the field of arts, science and technology. The three main museums of Kovalam include Kuthiramalika Palace museum, Napier museum and Science & Technology museum.

Kuthiramalika Palace museum houses the brilliant paintings and other artifacts that bear the imprints of the rich taste of Maharaja of Travancore, Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma who constructed the edifice long back. The museum is famous for having an exquisite array of architectural ecstasy that includes excellent wood carvings.

Napier museum is another store house of outstanding specimen. The king of Travancore constructed the Napier museum and today it is visited by a large number of tourists. The main attractions of Napier museum include conventional musical instruments, wood carvings, kuftgiri works, stone and bronze sculptures, ivory articles and handicrafts of Kerala.

Science & Technology museum is yet another place of Kovalam which houses a number of galleries that are equipped with animated, working and participatory items of exhibition. The main purpose of this museum in Kovalam is to provide a deep insight into the scientific and technological front.

Being an integral part of the Kovalam tourist attractions the museums of the place are visited by those tourists who have an inclination towards the history of a number of interesting artifacts made in the past centuries.
