    Dhanbad District Map

    Dhanbad District, of Jharkhand is renown for its coalmines and was created in the year 1956. Occupying an area of 2052 sq. km, Dhanbad spans from 23°37'3" N and 24°4' N latitude and between 86°6'30" E and 86°50' E longitude. Giridih and Bokaro flank Dhanbad on the west while Giridih and Dumka border it on the north and Purulia district of West Bengal is its eastern and southern neighbor.

    A population size of 4,27,939 inhabits Dhanbad. The topography does not facilitate agriculture. Hence people also work in the coalmines and other mineral reserves, fertilizer plants and heavy and medium scale industries.

    Dhanbad, situated on the banks of Damodar is marked by a salubrious climate. The scenic beauty of the dam coupled with the sites of Charak Pathar, Chati Gobindpur, Gopalpur, Jhinjhipahari, Meva, Panrra, Topchanchi, Maithon, Panchet and Jama marvel tourists.
