Paschimi Singhbhum District of Jharkhand spread over 9,905 sq. km and bound by Sundergarh and Purbi Singhbhum District was created by the bifurcation of the erstwhile Singhbhum district.

With a total of 122 population groups, Paschimi Singhbhum is one of the most economically backward regions of Jharkhand where people are involved in a little agriculture and small-scale industries.
