The Lal Jain Temple in Ajmer, also popular as Nasiyan Digambara Temple is dedicated to Lord Rishabhdev, the founder of Jainism. It was built by Seth Moolchand Soni in the late 19th century. The temple is located on the Prithvi Raj Marg in the city of Ajmer.
The temple has been constructed in red stone brought from Karauli, following the typical South Indian style of temple architecture. The gigantic gateway, also termed as 'Gopuram', is a fine example of its rich architectural technique.
The temple has been divided into two parts. One of these constitutes the altar where the lord is worshipped, while the other serves the purpose of a museum. Since many idols of gold are stored in the shrine, it is also famous as Swarna Mandir or Sone ki Nasiyan.
The intricate carvings done on the red-stone gateway are praiseworthy. In many ways it is reminiscent of the other prominent buildings of Rajasthan, which are known for their finely detailed carvings.
The Manastambha is the first thing that comes to your view as you enter through the huge gateway. It is 82-foot-high and was constructed by R. B. Seth Sir Bhagchand Soni.
This column in white marble stands high in the courtyard of the temple. The Manastambha has a height of about 82 feet. It has been designed in an artistic manner with images of the Jain Tirthankars engraved on it.
