Get the perfect skin for the special day

Marriage is that time in a girl’s life when she desires to look at her best. Though most of the brides are only concerned about losing weight, it is the holistic approach (being fit mentally, physically and emotionally) that leaves you with a glow that can turn the heads. Many a time, brides end up spending big bucks by joining courses referred by dieticians. Though it is not a bad practice, you can take the reign in your own hands and end up looking picture perfect on your D-Day. All you have to do is adapt to a few good habits that would make you glow not just on your wedding day but after that too.

So, here are some tips for the would-be brides to enhance their beauty for the special day:

1. Staying Hydrated is the Key

We all live a life wherein we are continually chasing deadlines. Most of the times, it leads to stress, and we tend to take refuge in caffeine, carbonated drinks and even alcohol. This tends to damage the skin and takes away the entire glow from one’s face. Also though one can never be stress-free, we can reward our skin by drinking plenty of water, fresh juices (no packaged juices) or coconut water. Trust me; your skin will thank you.

2. Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables

Vegetables and Fruits are rich in fibre, and this is a good thing for your body as well as the digestive tract. One must include pulses and cereals in your daily meal. However, at night try to stick to a bowl or two of dal accompanied with salad. Breakfast is a must! Opt for healthy eating items like – Poha, boiled eggs, vermicelli, Upma, steamed Idli, etc. Opt for fruits like avocados, oranges, strawberries and papayas as they are rich in fibre and help to burn fat to provide energy. Rather than binging on chips, cookies or wafers, grab a bowl of fresh fruits and team it up with coconut water. You can also have a handful of nuts to eliminate that mid snack craving time. The best thing to avoid late-night comfort eating food is to have a tablespoon of chia seeds soaked in water. They will make your tummy full and would eliminate any chance of late-night eating.

3. Carbs in a little quantity are needed

We have all been told that carbohydrates are bad for the body. But our body needs the right amount of carbs. Ditch your white bread, white rice, corn flakes, mashed or fried potato and replace them with quinoa, brown rice, brown bread and sweet potato.

4. Have essential fats

It is a myth that one should stay away from fats. The body needs essential fats, and they help us to glow. One must always include oily fish, nuts, seeds – pumpkin, flax and chia seeds, eggs, salmon, etc. in your diet as they play a significant role in making our skin, nails and hair healthy.

5. Say Yes to Dark Chocolates

Dark Chocolates are not enemies but are best buddies. Dark chocolate consists of Cocoa that is rich in antioxidant and helps in reducing stress (that is normal during bridal preparations). Dark chocolates release flavonoids that lead to lesser wrinkles. So, whenever you’re feeling that craving of having chocolate, eat a bar of dark chocolate. Your skin and taste buds would love it.

6. A cup of yoghurt

Yoghurt is a miracle dish as it is a natural anti-ageing food item. Eating a bowl of yoghurt daily helps to get rid of acne, wrinkles and even dark circles. Greek Yoghurt is a great mid-day snack food item. You can top up your yoghurt with fresh berries, nuts and chia seeds to make a complete mid-day snack on the go. It is not only fulfilling but is rich in protein.

7. Detoxify with Green Tea

We all know that Green Tea is a rich source of antioxidants and helps in weight loss. Apart from that, Green Tea also fights premature ageing, thereby leaving your skin rejuvenated by keeping the acne at bay. So, it is advisable to drink 2-3 cups of green tea daily.

8. Don’t forget to exercise

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. In the same way, no exercise and just a proper diet won’t help you reach the maximum level of satisfaction. Hence, one should exercise daily for a minimum of 30 minutes. You can either hit the gym or go for a brisk walk, jogging or do yoga poses of your own choice to eliminate the stress.

So, all the brides-to-be out there, follow these simple hacks and look like a shiny star on your D-day.

And yes, don’t forget to be happy! Stay Smiling.
