Lucky Grahak Yojna

Lucky-Grahak-Yojana

November 8, 2016 – we’re not likely to forget this date all too easily. The demonetization of high denomination notes undertaken by PM Modi and the NDA government has indeed caused quite a stir. Add to this the cash withdrawal restrictions that were put in place and there has been hardly anyone in the country who remains untouched by the move.

Not getting into the wisdom of the move, or lack thereof, one clear trend to have emerged out of the situation is the move towards digital transactions.

Use of cheques, plastic money, and digital transactions help the government track the movement of money, thereby preventing the circulation of black money.

Now, as an incentive to promote the use of digital transactions, NITI Aayog has announced cash prizes in the form of a lottery.

What is Lucky Grahak Yojana?

Two schemes – the Lucky Grahak Yojna and the Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojna – were launched on December 25, 2016. These lottery schemes will run through the first quarter of 2017 and culminate on April 14, 2017.

People who use digital transactions within this period will be eligible for monetary awards under the Lucky Grahak Yojna (LGY) and merchants enabling customers to use or transact through digital payments will be eligible for Digi-dhan Vyapar Yojna (DDV).

Eligibility for Lucky Grahak Yojana

People using Rupay Cards, AEPS (Aadhar Enabled Payment System), USSD, and UPI (Unified Payment Interface) apps (such as the recently introduced BHIM app) to make transactions between Rs 50 and Rs 3000 are eligible for the LGY lucky draw. Other digital wallet users will be eligible only if the transactions are done through the UPI mode.

How the Lucky Draw is Conducted – Daily Winners

The LGY draw is a daily one and 15,000 winners each day will receive a credit of Rs 1000 into their accounts (within 48 hours of the draw).

Number of Winners Weekly

Apart from this, there shall be a weekly draw in which 7000 customers shall receive rewards ranging from Rs 5000 to Rs 1 lakh.

Mega Draw of the Scheme

The mega draw will be held on the birthday of Dr. B R Ambedkar (April 14, 2017) and will have prizes of Rs 1 crore, Rs 50 lakh, and Rs 25 lakh.

How to Check Lucky Grahak Yojana Result

People using digital transactions will get to know if they have won by logging into the https://digidhanlucky.mygov.in/ website, or by checking for credit in their accounts.

Eligibility for Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana

Merchants also become eligible for the DDV lucky draw for accepting digital payments through RuPay or UPI (amounts between Rs 50 and Rs 3000).

The DDV draw is a weekly one and 7,000 winners each week will receive a credit of Rs 50000, Rs 5000, or Rs 2500 into their accounts (within 48 hours of the draw).

Apart from this, there shall be mega draw held on the birthday of Dr. B R Ambedkar (April 14, 2017) and will have prizes of Rs 50 lakh, Rs 25 lakh, and Rs 5 lakh.

The government hopes that the introduction of these schemes will provide the people of India incentive to use their RuPay cards and UPI-enabled wallets increasingly to conduct transactions.
