It is a type of foam mattress which comes in many forms such as memory foam, latex foam etc. Memory foam, also known as visco-elastic foam, a synthetic material, is popular because of the way it gradually conforms to your body i.e adapts closely to your body shape and disperses your weight evenly throughout the bed, making it ideal for achy joints, morning pains and restless sleepers. There is slow restoration to original form as body weight is released. Memory foam was developed as part of a NASA contract in the 1970s to improve seat cushioning and crash protection for airline pilots and passengers. A number of industries have taken advantage of this development, including footwear, furniture, automobile etc. It is good for side sleepers.
