1. Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil has exceptional power of treating acne and psoriasis. It can also fight bacterial and fungal infections. Proven to possess anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, this oil is also effective in eliminating the strain of fungus which causes dandruff in the scalp.
How to use: As the oil is a heavy one, it is advised to dilute it by mixing with some carrier oil like coconut oil. You can also mix it with your shampoo or apply it directly on the scalp and let it get absorbed into the skin.

2. Aloe vera

The extract of aloe vera which is thick and transparent is capable of providing a cooling effect to the skin and calm down the irritation caused by a fungus in the skin. Aloe vera also provides relief from inflammation. The gel is a putative remedy for dandruff.
How to use: The gel can be extracted from the leaves of aloe vera plant and can be directly applied on the scalp. Also, one can mix aloe vera with onion juice for better results.
3. Coconut Oil
Extracted from the matured coconuts, coconut oil has an abundance of vitamins and fatty acids. Also, it is enriched with essential vitamins like K and E, capric acid, lauric acid and proteins which are extremely beneficial for the hair. The oil penetrates easily into the scalp and gives conditioning, moisturising and hydrating effect to the skin. The damaged shafts are repaired with regular use of coconut oil and after effects of dandruff-like irritation, flakiness, and detangling are also cured. How to use: Heat the coconut oil and apply it evenly on your hair. Massage gently for at least 20 minutes and leave it for over an hour. Rinse it off with shampoo.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar removes the dead cells from the skin and is also responsible for balancing the pH of the scalp. It prevents the growth of any fungal infection and thus prevents the scalp from dandruff. Apple cider vinegar has anti-bacterial and antifungal properties which effectively curbs all problems related to the scalp. As vinegar also possesses anti-inflammatory properties it helps in soothing an aggravated scalp. The apple cider vinegar is also able to balance the oil production in the scalp.
How to use: Take the apple cider vinegar in a bowl and gently massage it into the scalp. Leave it for around 30 minutes and then wash it with a mild shampoo. Don’t forget to use the conditioner after using the vinegar.
5. Baking Soda
Baking soda, which is commonly found in kitchens is a readily available solution for treating dandruff. It is a gentle exfoliant which can remove dead cells from the skin and reduce itchiness. It also has anti-fungal properties which can be helpful in treating dandruff. Baking Soda can also reduce the problem of psoriasis. As it can soak up excess oil from the scalp, it is helpful in curing dandruff.
How to use: Take a tablespoon of baking soda and rub it on your scalp and hair. Leave it on the scalp for a minute and wash it off thoroughly. Use a mild shampoo to rinse it off from the hair.
6. Lemon juice and Curd
The natural enzymes present in both lemon and curd are responsible for breaking down the fungus in the scalp. The acid present in lemon balances the pH and also the oil production in the scalp. Curd provides nourishment to the hair and makes it shiny and smooth. From regular use of curd and lemon, the harsh chemicals also get eliminated from the skin and hair starts getting normal.
How to use: Make a mixture of lemon juice and curd and apply it on your hairs. Cover the entire length of your hair with the mixture and wait for at least 30 minutes before washing them. Use mild shampoo for removing this mask. Try this solution twice a week for best results.
