Reincarnation seems to be the favourite theme of Bollywood, which no director wants to leave a chance to play with. Ample stories have been built around reincarnation but nothing stops the filmmakers from experimenting with it! This week’s release, Ek Paheli Leela, is yet another expression of the same concept. First-time director Bobby Khan, pitches in the hot damsel Sunny Leone for a surprisingly desi avatar! Based in the sandy locales of Rajasthan, Ek Paheli Leela, takes us back to a 300-year-old love saga.
Plot: An international model from London, Meera travels to Rajasthan for a photoshoot. As destiny unfolds, she comes across some astounding secrets of her previous birth that totally change the meaning of her existence!
Performances: Sunny Leone looks incredibly ravishing and sultry in every single frame! This angelic beauty undoubtedly has a figure to die for but even her charm and blaze cannot compensate for her poor acting skills. She delivers her dialogues well in the Rajasthani avatar, but acting is something she definitely needs to work hard upon.
Jay Bhanushali looks absolutely confused and lost in the film. As an actor he gives over-the-top expressions and fails in deft handling of dialogues.
Jas Arora turns out to be too loud for his character. The royalty of his character seems to be missing as he looks like a caricature.
Mohit Ahlawat looks very handsome in the royal look and acts decently. Other than his expressionless face, he fits in the role with ease.
Rahul Dev performs outstandingly well in a negative lead. His expressions and demeanour are just bang on!
Rajneesh Duggal has a very less screen space so his performance can be passed upon.
Music: Ek Paheli Leela is supposedly a musical. Therefore, the film has a marathon of songs. All the compositions have a very different feel and music. While most of the numbers are quite average, a few of them do seem to be composed well! The album also has a Rajasthani essence in the music. The best ones from the album are definitely Desi Look and Tere Bin!
What’s Good: While the plot is based upon an overused concept, the movie does have some interesting elements to keep you engaged. The climax brings a good twist. Sunny Leone looks extremely gorgeous in the film.
What’s Bad: The movie fails because of the poor performance by the stars. The dialogues written by Bunty Rathod are equally shabby and painful to the ears. The director seems to have lost his connect with the details about the past. Sunny Leone looks excessively voluptuous than actually required. A high level of sexuality has been induced deliberately in the film. Also, the duration is something that the editors should have looked upon!
Starring exclusively as the protagonist, Sunny Leone gets her first full-fledged film with Ek Paheli Leela! The film, however, turns out to be an average flick supported only by a few songs and Sunny Leone’s firing avatar. The excessive skin-show in the film destroys the regional value while making it a deliberate glamour punch! Nonetheless, a sincere performance by Rahul Dev and a refreshing climax are the two things that the film should be credited for!
Verdict: Watch the film only if you are a fan of Sunny Leone!
