You can copy the style, but you can never steal away the essence of something! True that! My goad for some authentic South-Indian food just made me realize that when it comes to the regional cuisines, it is almost impossible to get that very taste anywhere else. Of course there are a zillion restaurants that tantalize you with their invoking ambience, but as for the taste most of them end up making false claims. Miffed by my unending desire to gratify my taste buds with some good South-Indian food, I decided to explore some of the most well-known luncheonettes in Delhi and know for myself the best ones to quench my craving. So if you too are yearning for some Idli-Sambhar-Vada, here I am all ready with my list-
1. Dakshin- WelcomHotel Sheraton (Saket)
Cost for 2- Rs.2700 (approx)
This is not an everyday place but if you really want to lay your hands on the authentic South-Indian cuisine, this is your ultimate destination! The spectacular variety of the food and an equally beguiling taste scores full marks for this place. Definitely a must try restaurant!
2. Zambar- Ambience Mall (Vasant Kunj)
Cost for 2-Rs.2000 (approx)
This is one of the best looking restaurants I have ever been to! A boat-like ambience adds on to the superior quality of the food that this place serves you with. The service is amazing and the staff, extremely cordial. This one definitely gives you the value for money!
3. Naivedyam, Hauz Khas Village
Cost for 2-Rs. 400 (approx)
What if you get a very mellow ambience with scrumptious food that too at a very pocket-friendly price? This is exactly what Naivedyam does for you! This is one of the best places for family dine-outs.
4. Hotel Saravana Bhawan, Connaught Place
Cost for 2-Rs. 400 (approx)
CP is the heart of Delhi and Saravana Bhawan is like its heartbeat. Anyone who has been to CP must have definitely noshed here. One of the most popular South-Indian Restaurants in Delhi, Saravana Bhawan will surely win your heart.
5. Sagar Ratna
Cost for 2-Rs.500 (approx)
This place doesn’t need any introduction especially to the Delhites! When you think of the South-Indian food, the first name that strikes the mind is Sagar Ratna. This place actually surprises you with the variety of the South-Indian cuisine present here.
