About Vishalla
It is housed inside the premises of Vishalla, founded in 1978. It is a Gujarati cuisine restaurant with traditional rustic interiors. It was designed by Surendra Patel himself, who was very keenly involved in the process. It contains mud-plastered huts, a temple of Lord Shiva, an open Kitchen, a Kala Bhandar, and a play area. It also has a banquet and party plot. The natural surroundings of this place, in addition to the museum’s unique collection, are a treat to watch.
Idea behind VEECHAR
VEECHAR (Vishalla Environmental Centre for Heritage of Art, Architecture and Research) Utensils Museum is a non-profit venture. It is the brainchild of Surendra Patel, a renowned architect and interior designer in Gujarat.
On his visit to Saurashtra, he saw a few craftsmen melting traditional utensils made of brass and other materials. Seeing that, he got a strong urge to preserve these conventional pieces of pottery for future generations. He shared this idea with Jyotindra Jain, who helped him set up the museum in the name of VEECHAR Charitable Trust.

- Metal Utensils
The collection at the museum contains utensils made of brass, copper, bronze, zinc, and German silver, which are categorized based on their use. The vessels in the museum are categorized as fetching water, milking, storing ornaments, etc.
They are collected mainly from southern India and other parts of the country. They are almost 100 to 1000 years old and result from the craftsmen’s sheer brilliance.
- Nut Crackers
It also has a vast collection of nutcrackers, a tool used to cut or crack nuts. It ranges from simple nutcrackers to ones made in different shapes and sizes. It includes nutcrackers in the forms of birds, animals, angels, etc. They are made with brass, copper, iron, German silver, elephant teeth, etc. their size ranges from 1 to 18 inches.

Entry Fee to VEECHAR Utensils Museum
The entry fee to VEECHAR Utensils Museum is ₹30 for an adult, ₹10 for a child from 3 years to 11 years old, and it is ₹100 for foreign nationals.
If a visitor wants to carry their mobile phone or camera, an additional fee of ₹100 must be paid to them. It is ₹500 for shooting videos inside the museum.
