After the impressive success of Redmi 5 series, the electronics giant Xiaomi is out with yet another model Redmi 6, that as rumoured in the markets, will surpass the records created by its predecessor. Currently, Redmi 5 is among the world’s top selling smartphones and its successor Redmi 6 is eyeing a position in the same league. And it’s not too off the base considering its fascinating new features. Read on to find what awaits in the new model and compare the best of the features with its predecessor.
New features of Redmi 6
The bigger the better. Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch display screen which is larger than its predecessor. It also promises18:9 aspect ratio. So here’s some extra screen space for enjoying favourite videos, movies and comfortable Internet browsing.
Phone memory crisis is not uncommon. And that’s mainly because of data of various apps we keep installing. Redmi 6 has been optimised to reduce the memory usage by the system apps by approximately 30%. And that’s quite a lot.
Redmi 6 also emulates Google Lens in regards to its feature of smart object recognition. You can look up an object just by pointing the phone camera at it.
Another interesting feature comes from its AI-enabled system. Every time you pick up the phone, the screen would wake up automatically.
There have been unlocking mechanisms for phone with screen patterns, voice recognition and finger prints. Now in Redmi 6, you can unlock it with face recognition as well. Pretty cool, right?
How about turning the real world into an online marketplace that everywhere you see, you see their prices and instant comparison on price with other similar items. Ai voice assistant when integrated with phone’s camera can recognize vehicles, plants and other objects for comparing their market value.
The new phone can also detect scammers-sent malicious SMS and can provide a good deal of security to users against possible attacks.
The processor’s performance is also improved. Xiaomi claims to have 48% better performance in terms of CPU functioning than 28nm-based chipsets. Redmi 6 uses 12nm-based chipset.
The quality of selfie camera is also improved. The camera is capable of taking photos in the Portrait Mode as well.
Let’s Talk Money
With great features, come the great price. But not really, with this phone at least. Xiaomi has launched it at CNY 599 which would roughly mean Rs 6,400 for the Indian market. However, the top model would cost around Rs 10,500.
The War between the Successor and the Predecessor
In comparison to its predecessor 5A, which comes with a price tag of around Rs 8,000, 6A is a bit more expensive. But, the newer version has extra features in its defense and has improved on its earlier models to a great degree. Here’s a juxtaposition of them on various features.
