In India, with the onset of Jio 4G, telecom industries have buckled up to invest heavily in the same field as it was indeed a revolutionary implement in the Indian industry. Going beyond 4G services, Telecom companies in India are eyeing introducing 5G services soon.
5G Mobile phones
Reliance with the launch of the low-cost Jiophone Nexus 4G smartphones contributed to digital empowerment in India. Reliance Jio is about to launch another sensation. It seems that Reliance is likely to establish the most affordable 5G smartphone soon. The 5G revolution in India is expected to start this year. Reliance Jio is at the forefront of the 5G expansion. It competes with the RealMe and Redmi smartphones that dominate the 5G smartphones market. Currently, the 5G smartphone stands at Rs 13,000. However, reliance Jio is likely to launch a 5G smartphone at a lower price. This 5G smartphone is priced at around Rs 10,000.
Government response
In her budget speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that 5G technology would be available across the country this year. It was announced that 5G technology would be introduced by 2022-23 through private companies. Market experts predict that the 5G technology will bring massive revenue to the Center this year. The previous 4G spectrum auction fetched over Rs 77 800 crore from the government. Everyone is now focused on how much revenue the centre will get from the 5G spectrum auction this year.
It is estimated that the revenue from the 5G spectrum auction this year could be as high as Rs 1.25 lakh crore or jump by more than 60% compared to the previous (4G spectrum auction). The spectrum auction would be contested not only by cellular operators but also by others. The payments related to the purchase of this spectrum auction could be made for up to 10 years. It is believed that the owner who purchased the spectrum during this period may have enough time to recoup that investment, as per the data released by the concerned authorities.
5G services will be available in 13 cities across the country for the first time. In addition, Reliance Jio is planning 5G coverage for 1,000 top cities. With 5G technology, Healthcare has announced that it is pursuing Jio Trials using state-of-the-art facilities in industrial automation. 3D Maps and Ray tracing technology will be used to test the capabilities of 5G services.
