While the world is already panic-stricken amid the Coronavirus pandemic, filmmakers are busy registering titles based on the pandemic.

Ram Gopal Verma not only registered the title but managed to produce an entire film on the same name called ‘Coronavirus’. One of the highlights and promotion matter of the film is that the whole feature has been shot amid the nationwide lockdown.

In the 4-minute long trailer, the audience is taken inside the house of a family where one of the members is coughing unremittingly. And how the fear grips a household with the spread of the virus amongst the family members highlighting the dawning of the taboo comes along with it.

The camera rotates wide-angle, the spooky background music, buzzing flies, dim cold light reverse direction from a health crisis to a caricature of mere horror.

Ram Gopal Varma aka RGV took to micro-blogging site Twitter to clarify “CORONAVIRUS is not a HORROR film. It is about the HORRORS which are inside all of us, including our great political leaders and bureaucrats who actually know only as much as us, which is just nothing. THE ONLY THING I KNOW IS THAT I KNOW NOTHING – Socrates”

After the trailer was dropped, RGV received flak from the netizens questioning his timing of the release of the trailer and the film itself.

This is not the first time that RGV crossed a line of sensitivity; after the attack of 26/11, Varma visited the Taj hotel the next morning to take notes for his next film. However, the maker apologised later for his thoughtless act.

Directed by Agasthya Manju, the film will be released on the Shreyas app.
