Thanks to blockbusters like Dangal and Sultan, the looming stereotype surrounding sports has been overthrown. One can quickly feel the exhilaration and passion amongst the people of the nation who cry with joy at every national victory and stand in solidarity with every loss. The second largest multi-sport, Asian Games 2023, is set to commence in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8.
Asian Games
Inaugurated in the year 1951, the Asian Games is the oldest and one of the mega events that happened on Asian soil. This multi-sport, much like the Olympics, is held at an interval of every four years. The sports programme is similar to the Olympics, with athletics and swimming forming the core sports. The Asian Games is an extravagant sports event that stands as a representation of cultural amalgamation. It reflects the diverse sports culture of the Asian continent, which includes the territory of various regions, including South East Asia or South Asia. Since 1982, the Olympic Council of Asia has organized the Asian Games. India has been historically connected to the sport for quite a long, having hosted the event in 1951.
