As the name suggests, rakhia badi involves small globules which are made up of the rakhia fruit. To make rakhia badi, the black gram is thoroughly washed and kept in water for one whole night to get soaked. The finely cut fruit pieces are also washed and wrapped with cloth and stored under a stone. The next day the gram is pasted and all other ingredients are stirred well into this paste.

The tribal people generally try to make round balls with the paste but as they do not use any kind of artificial equipments hence more often than not the balls take other shapes too. Once the globules are made these are either stored for future use or are put into other curries.

Jalebi is a common variety of recipe which is prepared by the people of Chhattisgarh on every minor and major occasion. Made up of sugar, yeast, flour, saffron and water, jalebi is a favorite dish of every inhabitant of the state.

Dals or lentils are also used in Chhattisgarh households to make delicious spicy and non-spicy dishes. Bafauri is a variation of chana dal which is served with rice or roti in the state.
