Match Review of Delhi Daredevils Vs Royal Challenges Bangalore

Indian Premier League
Delhi Daredevils vs Royal Challengers Bangalore
Match no. 30
Venue : Firoz Shah kotla, New Delhi

It was a indeed a thrilling time at Firoz Shah Kotla on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. It was one of the perfect cricket contests of this IPL season 4. Though it was a contest between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Banaglore, but it looked as if the DD team of season 3 has been distributed in 2 parts. Because D.Vettori, T. Dilshan and AB de Villiars who played for Delhi Daredevils in earlier seasons are now representing Royal Challengers Bangalore.

When the RCB captain won the toss and put DD to bat first, it must have gleamed skipper Virender Sehwag's eyes. DD would have liked to carry the same form of last win over King's XI Punjab, after scoring more than 230 runs, highest ever in IPL by a team.

On the other hand RCB has not been doing that great in this IPL season until their last victory over KKR, which was complete one man show by Chris Gayle who scored a ton.

David Warner & Virender Sehwag possibly the best opening pair, opened the batting for DD yet again. But it seems hosts themselves misread their own pitch. Warner was dismissed by Zaheer Khan with a beauty on 7. And once again Sehwag also botched to impress and got himself run out by A. mithun on 25. Here comes a million dollar question for all of us when would Virender Sehwag learn to run in between wickets and would stick to the basics? James Hopes was sent up the order, probably the only good decision of the day for DD and scored blistering 54(43), Mathew Wade a promising Australian also failed to impress and were sent back to stand by A. Mithun on 8.

Venugopal Rao a fine solid hand for the middle order for DD thrived till 24 and helped J. Hopes in harmonizing the inning. Naman Ojha was sent up the order once again, It was difficult for Sehwag to decide whom to send first because both Irfaan Pathan and Naman Ojha are actually struggling for their form. But still with help of an eventful over by A. Mithun and two sixes hit by Irfan Pathan DD managed to achieve a modest score of 160.

RCB had a fall on the first over when Dilshan got out cheaply by Dinda. But the party for Delhi Daredevils was spoilt by another Delhite only, Virat kohli when he smashed four boundaries to one of the most expensive cricketer of this season Irfan Pathan and scored 56 in 38 balls. As Gayle and Virat both were throbbing DD's bowling attack, once again Hopes came with hope and got Gyale out on 26. It wasn't a Warner's day with bat but his brilliance on field is unmatchable, which could help DD to get AB de Villliars run out just on 5.

Morkel tried some miracle in his second spell but a drop catch by Irfan Pathan of Vettori at mid off and 3 runs to get in last over, a responsible knock of 18 by skipper. It was close match with some nail biting thrills and kept swinging either way but ended in RCB's favour with Vettori's responsible skipper's knock. Devils yet again failed to prove with bat and ball.

Question of the Day :

Is there too much of cricket damaging the form of cricket?

Is podcasting during match affecting the performance or concentration on field during IPL?
