As they say "Cricket is the game of uncertainties" but this format of 20-20 is absolutely indecisive.

Kochi Tuskers were all set to host Deccan Charger a very nice dinner party on April 27th ,2011 at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium

Mahela Jayawardene, captain of Kochi Tuskers Kerala (KTK) and Kumar Sangakkara leading Deccan Chargers (DC), two players who represent the same country at International level, now representing two different franchise of IPL. Speaking at a press conference, Jayawardene mentioned that he is all set to play against dear friend Sangakara. On the other hand Sangakara mentioned that his team is geared up to give Kochi Tuskers a very tough competition.

The Tuskers captain won the toss and as the skipper himself had his doubts about the pitch to take turn either side, took the decision to field first. Deccan Chargers who were struggling for their forms in their previous games, had to prove their point in this game.

It was a dream start for Kochi Tuskers when the openers Sunny Sohal and Shikhar Dhawan were sent back to the stands by R.P. Singh very cheaply on the individual scores of 1 and 4 respectively, followed by Bharat Chipli who couldn't chip in also and scored just 4 was sent back to pavilion by Vinay Kumar.

It was clear and assumed by all that the match is going to be the lowest total of the IPL. The local boy S. Srisanth was as usual with his quick speed got rid of none other than the danger man Kumar Sangakara. Drama started when umpire decided to refer it to third umpire to confirm that it was a legal delivery and not a NO Ball. Ill fate of Srisanth that ball was declared a no ball and Kumar Sangakara got his second chance to get back to game, rather save the game for Deccan Chargers. Sangakkara and Cameron White put on a stand of 90 for the fourth wicket - the highest for this wicket against Kochi Tuskers Kerala by any team in the IPL .After the captain's knock of 65 of 47 deliveries, Deccan Chargers managed to reach to a total of 129/7 in their quota of 20 overs.

Kochi crowd was thrilled to get Deccan Chargers out on 129 until they actually realized that it was just a lull before hurricane named Ishant Sharma and Dale Steyn. The Kochi Tuskers scorecard looked like the counting of nursery rhyme at the end of four sensational overs - 0, 4, 0, 0, 0, 0 were the scores of the top 6 batsmen. Ishant Sharma harassed them with seam and bounce. Thereafter Kochi never recovered from the devastating spell from Ishant Sharma. Ishant entered the scene after Dale Steyn took out Brendon McCullum in the first over with a delivery that took the outside edge. It was the beginning of Kochi's nightmare as Ishant stunned them with a triple strike taking Parthiv Patel, Raiphi Gomez and Brad Hodge.

At this stage Kochi were 2 for 4 then and all their hopes rested on their opener and captain Mahela Jayawardene. Least were the supporters aware that Ishant Sharma had reserved his best delivery for the Tusker skipper and got rid of him at an individual score of 4. The middle order batsman R. Jadeja who has been in very good knock, attempted to take the inning through with some good looking shots till Delhi's boy Amit Misra a fine spinner took charge and sent him back on individual score of 23. The partnership of Jadeja & Parera was looking good came to an end with Misra and Gony's attack, as this pitch proved to be the fun track for the bowlers.

Though crowd was very supportive and enjoyed every moment of the cricket played there. Kochi Tuskers never expected that the match would be dispensed in such a short span with just the total of 74 runs, probably the lowest total in this season.

It was much needed victory for Deccan Chargers as they were struggling in the end of points table, but they got it in style.

The Awards : Man of the match : Ishant Sharma was awarded man of the match without any second thought for his excellent spell on fun track for bowlers at Kochi. 5 wickets for 12 runs. Extraordinary performance by a pacer.

Maximum Sixes: 1 C L White was awarded for the hitting maximum number of sixes.

Karbon Kamaal Catch:
Kumar Sangakara was awarded Karbon Kamaal Catch award for taking 3 catches behind the wickets.

Kingfisher Fair Play Award Chennai Super Kings tops the chart

Orange Cap (The leading run scorer) Sachin Tendulkar- Mumbai Indians

Purple Cap (The leading wicket taker) Lasith Mallinga- Mumbai Indians

Question of the day : Should we invite Pakistani cricketers for the IPL in the next season?
