Leh is a picturesque town of historical importance in Jammu and Kashmir. This place had been an important stopover for the traders between India and China, from time immemorial, trading 'pashm', silk yarn, cashmere wool, grain, Banaras brocade, salt, etc. This place is located at an altitude of 3524 metres from sea level. Two main highways that connect Leh with Srinagar and Manali are NH 1D and Leh-Manali Highway, respectively. The Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council is the governing body of Leh. The main crop of Leh is grim, from which staple food, Tsampa, is produced. Some of the places you should visit are beautiful valley, religious places, historic palaces, hills, and other picturesque places.

Leh Airport is officially known as Kushok Bakula Rimpochhe Airport. Due to its proximity to the border areas, security arrangements in this airport are paramount. Advanced baggage service, automatic scan, free baggage trolleys, restaurants, tea and coffee counters, telephone booths, and other advanced facilities are available in Kushok Bakula Rimpochhe Airport. Some of the most popular destinations from here are Jammu, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Srinagar. Airlines operating regularly are Air India, Jet Airways, and GoAir. Taxis and rental cars are available for passengers to commute to nearby places. Buses are also available. The bus stand is located just 5 km away. You can also avail train services from the nearest railway station, which is only 5.5 km away from the airport.
