About Raj Mandir Cinema

The famous Raj Mandir cinema hall, known for its archaic architecture is the pride of the city. The magnificent architectural wonder has been honoured with the title of 'Pride of Asia'. If this is your first time in the 'Pink City', it is highly unlikely that you won't visit Raj Mandir. The hall has witnessed thousands of visitors vying a glimpse of old classics in its vicinity. With a charm unlike any other, this place is a must-visit for first-time travellers, or visitors.

The magnificent hall was inaugurated on 1st June, 1976 by Shri Hari Dev Joshi, who was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan at the time. The first film screened here was 'Charas'.

The foundation stone for this supreme place was laid by Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, in the year 1966. Raj Mandir was a dream project of Shri Mehtab Chandra Golcha, who wanted to create a magnificent place of entertainment that would offer a new outlook to viewers. After the inception of the foundation stone, work began and was supervised by Shri Mehtab Chandra. Under his supervision and guidance, the structure evolved into an elegant and royal place for entertainment. It is said that it was Mehtab Chandra's creativity which made the cinema hall what it is today.

Boasting of intricate detailing both within and outside, Raj Mandir is reminiscent of a by-gone era. The hall reminds one of a royal palace with huge Chandeliers dangling from the main hall. The lighting system is another of its many attractions with exquisite lighting in the lobby before every show.

The exterior welcomes you with its 'nine stars', which denote the nine gem stones and signify the occupation of the Surana Jewellers, the proud owners of Raj Mandir. The interiors also boast of a revolving panel with the charming artistic work on the walls. There is a rising staircase next to the lobby, which further enhances the look and charm of the main hall.

The hall has a seating capacity of about 1,300 people, making it one of the biggest halls in Asia. The seating capacity is divided into four categories namely Pearl, Ruby, Emerald and Diamond. The main viewing hall has velvet draped curtains, adding to the already-heavy royal aura. People make it a point to book their seats in advance to admire the royal structure and enjoy every bit of it.

The Raj Mandir is bestowed with a legendary 25 years old history of a full house every single day. Many successful films have completed their silver jubilees in this prestigious movie Hall.
