Aizawl is the capital city of Mizoram and is also the largest city of the state. All important administrative offices and buildings, including the assembly house, are present here. This place is a colorful place with unimaginable natural beauty all around. Government jobs are the main employment generators here. Tourism and hospitality industry is coming up fast as another avenue of economic prosperity. Aizawl is located 1,132 m above sea level. The two valleys - Tuirial river valley and Tlawng river valley ? make this place picturesque. The places to visit here include museums, nearby hills, colorful shopping center, nearby village, and many more.

Flight Information, Airport Services, and Connectivity

The only airport of this place is Lengpui Airport. You will find daily flights from Kolkata. However, from Guwahati only 3 flights fly here on a weekly basis. Air India, Jet Airways, and JetKonnect flights are frequent here. This airport has a table top runway. It is a beautiful sight, no doubt, but makes it tough for the pilots to land because of the illusion created by the surroundings. Cat-I Instrument Landing System has been installed recently to make plane landings absolutely safe. It will take you around one hour to reach the city center from Lengpui Airport. Enough taxi services are available from the airport.

Aizawl is spread over 457 square kilometers and has a total population of 291,822. Spoken languages are Mizo and English. They can also understand and speak Hindi. Some of the must visit places here include Mizoram State Museum, Berawtlang Tourist Complex, main shopping centre - Bara Bazar, Khuangchera Puk, Durtlang Hills, Solomon Temple, Hmuifang, Baktawng Village, and others. October to March is the best time to visit Aizawl.
