Porbandar is a coastal city of Gujarat. It was here that Mahatma Gandhi was born. Tourists are advised to explore the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, innumerable temples, bird sanctuary, parks, planetarium, beaches, and many more. The main economic activity of Porbandar is tourism. One of the major sources of livelihood for most people here is fish processing and small scale industries. Major crops produced here are groundnut, cotton, wheat, bajra, jowar, tal, and gram. The Porbander airport is an important public airport for civilian operations. The terminal has been upgraded at a cost of Rs. 13.50 crores. The total passenger capacity of the terminal is 200, which comprises 100 for arriving and 100 for departing. Some of the basic facilities available are: two conveyor belts and six check-in counters in the arrival halls, free baggage services, wheel chairs for the disabled persons, and numerous shops (foods and beverages, newspapers, magazine, books, and other stationary items), including duty-free ones. The regular flights available are JetKonnect and Jet Airways. The most popular destinations are Diu and Mumbai from Porbander Airport. Buses, taxis and rental cars are available from the airport to reach your destination. The railway station is also located nearby.
