Sikkim - Gangtok city
Introduction
Sikkim is a north eastern state of India and Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim. It is also the largest city in the state. Situated on the Shivalik hills, it is found at the height of 5,600 feet in the south east of the Sikkim state. Gangtok, which in the local language means "hill top" is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the country.

Transport in Gangtok
Gangtok is well connected to all the major cities and towns. Although it is situated on hilly region, one can get well connected by rail, air and road. The place has a good network of roadways and connects various places and towns nearby. There are numerous buses that ply daily from Siliguri to Gangtok. National Highway NO 31A runs through the city of Gangtok and is well connected to the rest of the country. The highway also connects to Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The cable car takes 3 stops like the lower Gangtok suburbs, Sikkim legislative assembly and the Upper suburbs.
