7. Gold

Gold

Used for making ornaments, gold is one of the most precious metals used in India. It has both domestic and industrial uses. In India, currently, gold mines are located at three places – Kolar Gold Field of Kolar district, Hatti Gold Field in Raichur district-both in Karnataka and Ramgiri Gold Field in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. The total recoverable reserves of gold in India are estimated to be at 17 million tonnes. The total source of gold ore was estimated at 390.29 million tonnes with the metal content of 490.81 tonnes.

8. Graphite

Graphite

An allotrope of carbon and one of the softest minerals in the world, Graphite is widely used in manufacturing writing equipment. The total resources of graphite in the country are placed at 168.77 million tonnes in which 43% accounts to Arunachal Pradesh, followed by Jammu and Kashmir at 37%. Jharkhand – 6%, Tamil Nadu – 5%, and Odisha – 3%. The occurrence of this mineral is also reported from other states including Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and
Chhattisgarh.
