Indian actors have been featuring in quite a few Hollywood, British and Japanese productions, but in recent years the number surely has increased by leaps and bounds, proving that talent is global and cannot be restrained to specific countries or by man-made borders. Here is a comprehensive list of actors who have made it big at the international level:

Anupam Kher: This versatile actor, whom we remember for Bollywood movies like Saaransh and Gandhi, has worked in many Hollywood projects such as ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, ‘Bend it Like Beckham’ and ‘Mistress of Spices’. At present, he is a part of an action thriller by Netflix called Sense8, which is a digital streaming service.

Irfan Khan: With an amazing screen presence and fantastic acting abilities, Irfan has carved a niche even in Hollywood. In fact, he is one of the most well-known faces internationally and has featured in Hollywood movies like ‘A Mighty Heart’, ‘Darjeeling Express’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and ‘Life of Pi’. He also acted in the American TV series ‘In Treatment’. The future looks even more interesting with his role as an Indian judge in a Japanese mini-series based on World War II.

Anil Kapoor: The dashing hero of Bollywood during the 80s has indeed made it big time in Hollywood. In fact, his debut film here was the 2008 Oscar winning British production, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. There was no looking back for him after that and he has acted in blockbusters like ‘Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol’ alongside Tom Cruise. Anil Kapoor has also starred in the American series ‘24’.

Saeed Jaffrey: This portly octogenarian is indeed one of the most versatile actors of India. Over the years he has appeared in many British dramas and television series. In fact, he has been awarded the ‘Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE)’ for his contribution to drama, the first Asian to have achieved this status. Some of his hit movies and serials include ‘Gangsters’, ‘The Jewel in the Crown’, ‘The Far Pavilions’, ‘Tandoori Nights’ and ‘Little Napoleons’.

He has starred in many American series including ‘Bold and the Beautiful’, ‘Dynasty’, ‘Murder, She Wrote’, ‘Magnum’, ‘P.I.’, ‘Hunter’, ‘Knight Rider’ and ‘Highlander: The Series’. His portrayal of the pirate ‘Sandokan’ in the Italian six-part TV miniseries is still remembered by many.

The entertainment world, in its own way, is all set to prove that borders, politics and skin colour do not make a difference where talent is concerned. They are bringing about unity in diversity in a way which is reaching the masses all around the globe. Here is to hoping that this make believe world succeeds in bringing the people of the world together. Cheers!!
