Kishkinta is a Rs 250 million project jointly launched by Navodaya Films (P) Limited, Chennai, Berjaya Leisure, Malaysia and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), a Government of Tamil Nadu undertaking.
Kishkinta, the green paradise was once a barren land. 10,000 saplings were planted in 1995 which have brought the difference. Kishkinta is Chennai's solution to its degrading environment. About 2000 full grown trees were transplanted to provide a cool shady atmosphere. The diversity of trees and plants has made Kishkinta a botanical garden. It is really surprising that in water-scarce Chennai, from where does Kishkinta manages to get so much of water. 'Rain water harvesting' in macro-level is done in six man-made lakes in Kishkinta. Each and every drop of shower, that would have otherwise flown into the sea, is fruitfully preserved and utilized to carry out all the water based rides and activities ever going throughout the year.
