Andaman and Nicobar Islands struck by a magnitude 6.7 Earthquake

According to the report by the U.S. Geological Survey, an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 on the Richter Scale struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at around 7.11 pm today. The earthquake tremors were felt by the local islanders but no loss of life or casualties has been reported so far.

Shailesh Nayak, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) stated, “We do not see any threat of a Tsunami warning due to this. However, we have issued a general warning and have kept our system on high alert.”
