Opto Electronics Factory (OLF) and Ordnance Factory (OFD) at Dehradun



The Opto Electronics Factory (OLF) and Ordnance Factory (OFD) at Dehradun is a part of the Indian Ordnance Factories organization. This is a family of 40 ordnance factories with its headquarters in Kolkata. With over two centuries of experience in defense production, it is involved in the production, testing , logistics, research, development and marketing of a vast product range in the domain of land, sea and air systems.

During 1775 British authorities acknowledged the status of the Board of Ordnance in Fort William, Kolkata. This officially indicated the beginning of the Army Ordnance in India. 21 factories have been added to 18 pre-independence structures and the 40th factory is under construction at Nalanda, Bihar.
