1. Maruti Swift DDiS
At the top of the mileage chain is Maruti’s blue-eyed boy with a 1.3 litre DDiS diesel engine that returns a fuel efficiency of 28.4 kilometres to a litre. It shares its engine with the Ciaz, but the smart hybrid system does not come as a part of its package owing to the segment and cost difference. However, the engine will no longer be a part of any car in the company’s line-up post April 2020, owing to the BSVI emission norms which will deem all higher emission-rate engines unfit for further production and sale. The current Swift diesel can be brought home for a price tag of Rs 7.03 lakh to Rs 8.89 lakh.
