17. Mission Indradhanush

Mission Indradhanush
This health mission was launched on December 25, 2014 by the government of India. Its primary goal is to immunize all kids under the age of 2 years and also the pregnant women against diseases which can be prevented by taking timely vaccines. There are several diseases targeted, namely, Hepatitis B, measles, tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, tetanus, whooping cough, Haemophilus influenzae type B, Japanese encephalitis, Pneumonia, Rotavirus, Rubella, and Diphtheria.

It aims to cover 201 districts in its first phase. Of the total, 82 districts fall in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. The districts have been chosen such that they have almost 50% of India’s unvaccinated kids. The administration and planning of this key government scheme are similar to that of Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI)
