15. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
This Modi government scheme is also known as Swachh Bharat Mission. Launched officially on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, October 2, 2014, the mission has the vision to make India open-defecation free by October 2, 2019. It aims to clean infrastructure, roads, and streets of rural areas, towns, and cities. The objective of this mission is to construct community-owned and household-owned toilets. Since 2014, a total of more than 100 million toilets have been constructed.
