The Making of Mahatma features the life of Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa and India. Directed by filmmaker Shyam Benegal, the movie depicts the struggle of Bapu during the time he adopted non-violent movement against the racial discrimination. The movie is basically an adaptation of the book titled “Apprenticeship of a Mahatma” which is penned by Fatima Meer. The actor Rajit Kapur got a National Award for this movie. Another award bagged by this movie is the National Award for Best Feature Film in English ( as it was shot in English).
