 On July 5th 1994, Kiran Bedi was awarded the prestigious Magsaysay Award.

Kiran Bedi is a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and a social activist. Bedi occupied the position of Director General at the Bureau of Police Research and Development before she took voluntary retirement from the IPS in December 2007.
