The city is located at a distance of 120 kilometers from the hill town of Kodaikanal and is an excellent excursion from Kodaikanal town.

The upper and the lower Palani Hills are an offshoot of the western ghats and nestles the hill town of Kodaikanal. The vegetative growth of the hill slopes is an ideal retreat for the tourists at Kodaikanal. The tourists may also visit the Shola Forest which is watered by perennial streams and brooks.
