Bekal Fort: The Bekal beach houses the Bekal Fort and is one of the best- preserved historic forts in Kerala. This fort stands on promontory that encompasses 35 acres of land and touches the Arabian Sea. This historic fort that was built between 1645 and 1660 A.D by the Shivappa Naik of the Ikkeri dynasty, is an impressive rounded structure of laterite raising over 130ft above sea level. The high tower offers a spectacular vista of the idyllic beaches dotted with swaying palms. A temple devoted to the deity of Hanuman (the monkey-god) is sited at the entrance of the Bekal Fort. An old mosque also exists close by which is believed to have been built by the feted Mysore ruler- Tipu Sultan.
Valiyaparamba: Located 19 km from Bekal, Valiyaparamba is the most stunningly beautiful stretch of backwater in Kerala. The tangle of inlets of water moves in a serpentine way through the paddy fields and the palm groves. You can have a delightful and unforgettable experience while taking a ride in a Kettuvallam (the traditional houseboat of Kerala) in the cerulean water of Valiyaparamba. Bekal Hole Aqua Park- This aqua park in Northern Kerala is a heaven for water sport buffs and offers great entertaining facilities like water cycles and pedal boats. After a hectic day of touring, splashing in this aqua park would be an invigorating experience.
Nearby Beaches: The isolated Kappil Beach is located 6km away from Bekal Fort which is a favorite place of the tourists. Other beautiful beaches are the shallow Pallikere Beach and the Kanwatheertha Beach which has a swimming- pool like formation.
Kodi Cliffs: The lofty Kodi Cliffs lie between the Kappil Beach and the Chandragiri Fort in Kerala, and offers spell-binding view of the multi- hued sunset.
