Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited is a Subsidiary of Reliance Power and is engaged in a 4000 MW gas based and coal based power project in Maharashtra. The company was transferred to Reliance Power in 2007.

About the Company

Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited, being a subsidiary of the Reliance Power, invites bids for various power projects. The Reliance Power keeps a close watch on all the bids. In the year of 2007 the Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited initiated a 4000 MW gas and coal based power project in Shahapur which is 85 km away from Mumbai. The power project is all set to provide a total of 25% of the already existing power capacity of Maharashtra.

The power project of the Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited will be completed in two main phases. The Shahapur Gas project implements the technology of CCGT and two modules each of 1400 MW. Whereas, the 2x600 MW Shahapur coal project involves PCC technology. By 2011, the coal-based power project of the Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited is expected to be completed.
