G.S. Sawhney was a contractor at three different army canteens during the years 1955 to 1967, simultaneously also running a successful transport business, which he started after procuring an HMV license in the year 1959. He drove a bus on the STA route of Delhi, under the name of M/S “Khalsa Transport Company”. In the year 1968, he switched from stage carriage business to the tourist trade business, thanks to the development of his already thriving transport services. He then started providing services such as excursions for schools and colleges, local sightseeing tours, wedding and party trips for local as well as outstation destinations, staff of MNCs and more. He also started providing chartered buses for trips as well as buses for schools, under the name of M/S Bakshi Transport Service in the year 1974.
