The opening ceremony of the World Cup 2011 will be held on February 17, 2011, just two days ahead of the beginning of the tournament. The final is scheduled to be held on 2nd April, 2011 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

The Cricket World Cup 2011 Opening Ceremony will be held in Bangladesh. The venue for the ceremony is Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The ceremony will take place on February 17, 2011, two days before the opening match of the World Cup. The opening ceremony will be observed with a variety of colorful events in Bangabandhu Stadium. The spectators will get the chance to watch the cultural traditions of all the host countries. De Ghuma Ke
The official song of World Cup 2011 is “De Ghuma Ke”, which has been composed by the famous Bollywood trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. The song has been sung in three languages - Bangla, Hindi, and Sinhala. The singers of the Hindi version of the song “De Ghuma Ke” are Shankar Mahadevan and Divya Kumar and the marketing and promotion work has been performed by Ogilvy and Mather. The song includes a range of Indian tempos along with features of rock and hip-hop music.
The Sinhalese version of the song will be sung by Ranidu Lankage and Bengali version by Raghab Chatterjee. The lyrics of the song have been written by Manoj Yadav. The song will be performed during the colorful opening ceremony of the tournament in Dhaka on February 17, 2011.
The 2011 World Cup will unfold with an exciting start with Canadian rocker Bryan Adams performing at the opening ceremony in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Adams is famous for the hit song Summer of 69.
Bryan Adams will be the only performer from the west to sing at the festive opening, which will watch Bollywood trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy sing out De Ghuma Ke, the official song of the world cup.
The show will be close to the end of his trip of India that starts on 11th February in Pune.
The show on February 17 will be televised to 200 million television viewers by ESPN, stated a press release.
