Political career of Mr. H. R. Bhardwaj



H. R. Bhardwaj's political career mainly started when he was elected in the Rajya Sabha Elections for the first time in the month of April in 1982. Post that Mr. H. R. Bhardwaj was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha repeatedly as well as held some responsible positions in the Indian politics. Remarkable works of Bhardwaj as the Karnataka Governor



During the governorship of Karnataka, his rejection of the Lokayukta's resignation followed by his demand for the sacking of the Bellary brothers generated a nationwide debate during July, 2010. The rejection of the resignation fetched him much appreciation though.

Hans Raj Bhardwaj sanctioned the then Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa's prosecution under Corruption Prevention Act on 21st January, 2011 owing to the numerous allegations about his association in land scams.

Mr. H. R. Bhardwaj decided not to sanction honorary doctorate degree to the famous Kannada writer and noted historian Mr. M. Chidananda Murthy by the University of Bangalore on 7th February, 2011. Later he approved the degree though.

H. R. Bhardwaj, as the Governor of Karnataka, suggested President's rule in the state in the month of May of 2011.
