The expansion plan of Sahnewal Airport, to manage passenger flights was forwarded on 10th April 2007. The airport was previously efficient in handling 40- small seater planes. Earlier the Halwara Air Force Base was selected for expansion plan for passenger aircrafts. But was dropped due to security reasons.
