Situated in Punjab Amritsar is one of the most frequented cities in India. The city which is home to the famous Harmandir Saheb or Golden Temple is a one stop destination for most Sikh tourists to India. It is believed that this holy shrine experiences more tourists than the Taj Mahal in Agra.

Most of the tourists that visit Delhi also visit this popular city. There are several trains and buses that operate from Delhi to Amritsar. The journey from Delhi to Amritsar by road is very pleasant as you come across several beautiful fields and landscapes.

Flights from Amritsar to Delhi



Amritsar shares a very strong air network with Delhi. Most of the international and domestic airlines connect both these cities. The Amritsar airport known as Raja Sansi International Airport is situated at a distance of 11 Km from the city center. Flights like Jet Airways, Kingfisher and Air India operate between the two cities almost on a daily basis. It generally takes almost an hour to reach Amritsar from Delhi by flight.

Since Amritsar is one of the important cities in Punjab from the commercial point of view it is but obvious that the city will be connected to the rest of the country and specially Delhi via a good rail network. There are several trains that run between Amritsar and Delhi almost every day. The journey by train from Amritsar to Delhi takes almost 7. 30 hours and most trains that leave Delhi reach the Amritsar Junction which is the main railway station in the city.

Road Transport from Amritsar to Delhi



Traveling from Delhi to Amritsar by road is also a very good option since both the cities are connected with a decent highway network. Since Amritsar is situated at a distance of 465 Km from Delhi the journey is a little long but a fun packed one. The journey is extremely scenic and smooth and most of the state buses ply between the two cities on a regular basis.

  • Start driving towards Vivekananda Road by taking the Deen Dayal Upadhaya Marg
  • Pass by Vivedita Joshi and then take a right turn at Vivekananda Road
  • You will come across a roundabout, take the 1st exit
  • Then keep moving straight till you come onto Desh Bandhu Gupta Road
  • Again you will see a roundabout, take the 3rd exit and get onto NH 10
  • Take a left turn to remain on NH 10
  • Then take a Slight left turn to stay on NH 10 and pass by the famous Bimal Hospital
  • Then take a left turn to stay on NH 10
  • Take a right turn to remain on NH 10 and pass by the Shiv Departmental Store
  • Then take a left turn to stay on NH 10
  • Then take a left turn and continue to follow NH 10
  • Pass by two roundabouts till you come across a Petrol pump on the right hand side
  • Take a sharp right to remain on NH 10 till you pass by the Durga Bhawan Mandir
  • Situated on the left hand side
  • Then take a slight right and come onto NH 71
  • Then take a right turn and head towards Jind Road on NH 71
  • Take a sharp left turn at Jind Road on NH 71
  • Keep following NH 71 till you Pass by the Gurdwara Bangla Sahib situated on the
  • right hand side
  • Then take a right turn to remain on NH 71
  • You will pass by the H.P Petrol Pump situated on the right hand side
  • Then take a right turn at Old Vegetable Shop to remain on NH 71
  • Pass by the Jayanti Devi temple & Park situated on the right hand side; you will come across 3 right turns
  • Then take the 3rd right to remain on NH 71
  • You will come across 1 roundabout, take the 1st exit and pass by Vijay Nursing Home situated on the right hand side
  • You will pass by a Petrol Pump
  • Then take the left turn at NH 64
  • Then you will come across a roundabout and you will have to take the 3rd exit and get on to Handiaya Road
  • Then take a slight left turn and get onto NH 71
  • Take a right turn to remain on NH 71 till you pass by Dhillon Service Station
  • Then Turn left
  • Then take the first right turn and head towards Firozpur Road
  • Take a left turn at Firozpur Road and pass by Dr Narinder Singh Narula situated on the right hand side
  • Then take a slight right turn at Jalandhar Road
  • Now take a Slight left turn at Zira Road and pass by the Sodhi Hospital situated on the right hand side
  • Then take a left turn at State Highway 20
  • You will come across a roundabout, take the third exit and come onto NH 15
  • You will pass by the Shahzada Filling Station
  • Take a left turn to remain on NH 15
  • You will pass by the Paya Singh Perol Pump
  • Then take a left turn to remain on NH 15
  • Now take a right turn to stay on NH 15
  • You will pass by the Basant Filling Station situated on the left hand side
  • You will come across a roundabout, take the third exit and remain on NH 15
  • Again you will see a roundabout, take the first exit
  • Then turn left and you will reach your destination Amritsar, Punjab
