Manali clothes reflect the popular culture, indigenous customs, local habits and social life styles of the indigenous inhabitants of the region. Nestled in the exotic valleys of the Himalayan mountain ranges, Manali has a cold weather for most part of the year. Comprising mostly of the tribal population, most of the local inhabitants of Manali prefer to wear colorful traditional attires.

The traditional wear of the men folk of Manali comprise of a sultan to cover the lower part of the body, dora which is used as a belt to tighten the sultan and a long over coat, chola. To save oneself from the severe biting cold of the region, men cover their heads with topa, which is usually black in color. Chadder, a traditional shawl and lachhoo, a blanket is used during winter season to keep the body warm and free from diseases.

The ladies use pattoo which is a form of a long and warm shawl. Pattoo is worn to cover the body and save them from the extreme cold weather. To cover their head, women wear dhatu or thipu. Pullas are traditional woolen slippers that keep away the cold away from their feet.

The traditional attire of Manali wears a very colorful and attractive look. Mostly hand woven and spun with their own deft hands in the cozy corners of their homes, the unique dressing style of the local inhabitants of the region display their rich artistic caliber and creative instinct.

The fine quality and the harmonious blend of attractive colors of Manali clothes have taken the world by storm and any one who visits the place makes sure to purchase the unique traditional attire of the region.
